Carrier training

Fact

Leave the carrier out at home as a normal, open safe space with bedding and treats inside. Feed near/in it. Aim for many calm exposures before any trip — never scold the cat into it.

Car trips

Fact

Secure the carrier with a seatbelt, cover it partly to reduce visual stress, do short positive practice drives, and ask your vet about a Feliway wipe. Roughly ten good trips for each stressful one.

Sedatives

Whether to sedate — and with what — is a vet's decision. Sedation raises cardiac and breathing risk and is generally not allowed for air travel.
