My cat is terrified of the vacuum — what can I do?

Give the cat control and pair the vacuum with good things, gradually. Let it retreat to a safe height, keep the vacuum off and still at first, and reward calm at a distance — then very slowly build up. Never chase or corner a frightened cat 'to get it used to it.'Fact

This is desensitization: reduce the scary thing to a level the cat can handle, add rewards, and increase only as the cat stays relaxed.
